2008 Brookgreen Gardens Spring Gala
The annual Brookgreen Gardens Spring Gala is celebrating it 16 consecutive year. 600 of South Carolina’s most influential individuals will attend, including some of the most prominent and enthusiastic art collectors in the southeast. The Gala is produced by the members of the Friends of Brookgreen organization and is the major annual fundraiser supporting Brookgreen. ArtDuckO: Waterfowl Culture in North Carolina
For centuries, ducks and other waterfowl have provided a traditional food source and livelihood for North Carolinians. This major exhibit will present a captivating and multifaceted look at these feathered friends. ArtDuckO will showcase decoys and other objects associated with waterfowl hunting and conservation in North Carolina, plus Audubon prints, photographs and a flock of “ducky” artifacts. Charleston International Antiques Show
The 2008 Charleston International Antiques Show will bring together more than 30 of the nation’s most highly respected exhibitors representing American, Asian and European antiques. These exhibitors will showcase a spectrum of period furnishings, decorative pieces and fine art from the late 17th to 20th centuries, including vintage jewelry, oriental rugs, ceramics, architectural items, garden furniture, porcelains, quilts and silver. Double Decker Arts Festival
The Double Decker Arts Festival is a day-long celebration of food, music and art held in Oxford, Mississippi. The picturesque Courthouse Square provides the backdrop for over 112 artists from around the country, as well as two stages with music from 10:00 am until 10:00 pm. Local restaurants provide food in the “Taste of Oxford” area, and children can enjoy fun catered to them at the Square Fair. Paddle Georgia 2008
June 21-27, Georgia River Network's Paddle Georgia Navy sails Southwest Georgia’s Flint River. Paddle Georgia 2008 will cover 95 miles of the river that Governor Jimmy Carter saved from a dam project. From its headwaters beneath the Atlanta Airport, it flows south becoming one of Georgia’s longest stretches of undammed river — a stretch that is arguably one of the most breathtaking scenes in the state. The Aiken Horse Show
Established by the famous Mrs. Thomas Hitchcock in 1916, the Aiken Horse Show in the Woods remains one of the foremost equestrian competitions in Aiken.
